MARSDEN AMERICANA & BLUEGRASS DAY

True North Music presents Marsden Americana & Bluegrass Day, a midsummer extravaganza of Americana, bluegrass, folk and roots music, with performances from exceptional acoustic artists from both sides of the Atlantic, as well as participatory workshops in step dancing and singing. The event is expected to run 1.30pm to 10.30pm approx.

JAKE BLOUNT TRIO (USA)
Talented musician and singer Jake Blount is a rising star of American roots music. In 2023, he was nominated for Artist of the Year at the International Folk Music Awards, and was showcased on NPR’s popular Tiny Desk concert series. Jake won the Steve Martin Banjo Prize in 2020, and is an expert on the early folk music of Black Americans. Jake received massive acclaim for his 2022 album The New Faith, with glowing reviews from Rolling Stone, The Guardian and many more. The trio also features double bass ace Nelson Williams and gifted young multi-instrumentalist Gus Tritsch.

JAYWALKERS (UK)
Drawing on influences including folk, bluegrass, jazz and country, Jaywalkers have cemented their place as one of the most entertaining bands on the UK acoustic scene, since reaching the finals of the BBC Young Folk Awards back in 2008. Mandolin maestro Mike Giverin is also an exceptional songwriter, Jay Bradberry is a truly sensational lead singer and fiddle player, and double bassist Lucille Williams is one of the best around.

GOLDEN SHOALS (USA)
Golden Shoals blend old time Appalachian traditions with fine original songwriting and superb musicianship on acoustic guitar, fiddle and banjo. Amy Alvey and Mark Kilianski have taken their music around the world since 2013, and have released several albums. They combine bluegrass, old time Americana, folk and country roots, in a fabulously entertaining brew.

CARA LUFT (Canada)
JUNO award winning singer-songwriter Cara Luft is a fine guitarist and banjo picker. A co-founder of The Wailin’ Jennys, she also has an established solo career. Since 2012 she has toured and recorded as one half of The Small Glories, winning Folk Alliance International’s Folk Artist of the Year Award in 2020. With the duo on hiatus in 2024, Cara is hitting the road solo in search of new adventures and collaborations.
