What people think about our building.

2026:
“When choosing a venue for our Golden Wedding celebration there could be no other choice but Marsden Mechanics: it has all the atmosphere and facilities that we could hope for, at a reasonable cost, not to mention the intense personal attachment felt as a result of the village’s tenacity in taking it back into community ownership and refurbishing it to the high standard achieved.  The staff feel the same way about ‘our’ building, so there is no hint of ‘us and them’ and everything runs smoothly.” T&D
“I organised a 40th party here on NYE. It was a great venue and the staff were wonderful and went above and beyond for us. Thank you for everything.” SAN.
“A great venue and very reasonable prices.” RE.
“danced the night away!” JCS.
“Played here with my band ZANG for a beautiful wedding. Great wedding venue and acoustics for a band😊” JH.

2025:
“It’s in a great spot. It has a lot of potential. Wheelchair accessible.” DH.
“Yes its a village hall but don’t be deceived you can have a great time. The crowd are friendly and welcoming and the music is eclectic but they do eventually find the vibe and tune into the people’s tastes. The evening was a night of total contrast. Outside was the wettest and most miserable of nights I’d seen in years. Inside was a vibrant hub of warmth and life. The Christmas 🎄 light switch on event must have lightened everyone’s spirit.” SG.

2024:
“Recently had our engagement party at marsden mechanics and couldn’t fault the place, or the staff! Felicity was really helpful from enquiry to the party starting and the the staff that took over for the rest of the evening were nothing but helpful and lovely! Would definitely recommend if you need a function room for a party! :)” MB.
“Perfect for the baby sprinkle” CS.
“Nice community building with lift access to first floor” GT.
“Went for a Christmas Cracker Play. Very good. Nice people. Nice place for a venue.” JC.

2023:
I recently photographed a fantastic DIY wedding at Marsden Mechanics Hall. The hall is upstairs, and offers a great, versatile space for weddings. It is also licensed so you can have a legal ceremony here (Sorted via Huddersfield register office). The staff were super friendly and came to greet arriving guests and help those who needed it upstairs. (There is a lift for accessible access and an accessible toilet downstairs). I heard guests commenting on what great value the drinks are at the bar, we all know that can make a difference when you attend a wedding! The couple had a rock band – and the venue comes complete with the stage. They had their top table on the stage as well, which was great as they got a view of all the guests (And was fab for photography). The village itself has some lovely spots for photographs (including by the river) and despite it raining for most of the day we managed to make it out for some. The venue itself doesn’t have designated parking, but there is free on street parking in several spots in the village (and a large, free car park about ten minutes walk away – next to the canal). If you’re looking for a fantastic, great value for money, DIY wedding venue, that also supports valuable community projects, this is absolutely perfect.
I hope to come back asap!” KB.
