Rooted

Rooted is a free nature project inviting children and families to get outdoors and discover the wildlife right on our doorstep in Marsden. From our self-guided Wildlife Wander to Forest School sessions and nature-themed Friday Clubs, Rooted is all about exploring the woods, river and canal, noticing the changing seasons and finding new ways to connect with the natural world around us.

Rooted: Wildlife Wander

Come and discover Marsden’s wildlife. There’s always something new to see.

Rooted is a free, self guided Wildlife Wander for kids and their grown ups, taking you on an adventure through the woods, along the River Colne and beside the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

Pick up a free Wildlife Wander leaflet from Marsden Mechanics, bring a pen and head outside to see what you can spot along the way.

Listen for birds in the woods, look for plants along the canal, watch the river rushing over the rocks and remember to look up. You never know what might be flying overhead.

There are things to find, questions to answer and little activities to try as you explore. And because Marsden’s wildlife changes with the seasons, no two wanders will be quite the same.

Free to take part. Just pick up a leaflet and start exploring, or click on the link below:
