Hello and welcome to the Marsden Mechanics Blog this is where I will bring you updates from the exciting and amazing events we have on at Marsden Mechanics. My name is Max, I’m from the Calderdale area and I have recently joined the Marsden Mechanics team as a volunteer where I am helping the team with designing promotional graphics for posters and social media, I’ll also be taking photos of events that I attend and posting them on this blog and writing up on those events.

Seeing as this is an introductory blog I suppose I can give you a few tidbits about myself.
I’m half American from my Dad’s side of the family.
Some of my favourite plays and musicals are:
- Hamilton
- Mamma Mia!
- Operation Mincemeat
- Hadestown
- Cabaret
- The Importance of Being Earnest
- Nye
- Macbeth
- Jesus Christ Superstar
- Company
- Present Laughter
My first play I ever saw was an adaptation of Goodnight Mister Tom at the Manchester Opera House starring David Troughton.
I’ve been recently getting into audio dramas with a podcast called The Magnus Archives.
I love watching films and some of my favourite films are Aftersun, Nimona, I Saw the TV Glow and Project Hail Mary.
The next edition of my blog will be following Mark Thomas’ show at Marsden Mechanics: 40 in Stand-Up Years which is next week on September 18th.
I’m really excited for this show because I love standup comedy and I love comedy that is very factual and funny at the same time such as Nannette (Hannah Gadsby) and his political work has been both thought-provoking and can provoke changes to the system for example: changing laws on tax avoidance and campaigning to get trade union recognition for cinema workers.
I hope you enjoyed reading the first edition of my blog and more posts will be coming soon.
